BABY DEDICATION INFORMATION
A Baby Dedication is always a great moment and we enjoy celebrating the life that God has given through the parents.
BABY DEDICATION REQUIREMENTS
In order to participate in Baby Dedication, you must either be a member of Southpoint Church, a member of a community group, or serving with us as a volunteer on one of our ministry teams. We feel like these criterion are important as a first step for you as parents to understand what we believe and for us to truly be able to partner with you in the spiritual development of your child.
At Southpoint Church, we believe that there are 3 important facets to every baby dedication:
1. The parents are recognizing that their child is a gift from God and they really want to thank Him publicly and offer the child back to His loving care for the rest of his/her life. We, therefore, pray God's blessing on the child.
2. The parents are publicly acknowledging their commitment to raise this child up in the knowledge of God and His ways. They are telling everyone that they really desire to raise the child with Godly (Biblical) principles and that they want the child to enter a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ when he/she is old enough to understand these issues. This part requires that the parents themselves believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, have accepted Jesus as their Saviour and are following Him on a daily basis.
3. The body of Christ (i.e. the church body) is indicating their commitment in assisting the parents to bring up the child in the manner described under point 2. We recommend that all parents be part of a small group in order to receive this support.
