Baphumelele currently supports 10 Child Headed Families which include a total of 33 children. They prepare food/toiletry parcels on a monthly basis so these children can rely on having basic food so that they can focus on their education. Here are some specific items they regularly require:
Food:
1. 10kg bags of maize meal
2. assorted tin food cans (beans, sweetcorn, veg, fruit, pilchards etc.)
3. 2kg bags of rice or samp
4. 1kg bags of salt
5. boxes of tea (100 tea bags per box)
Toiletries:
1. toothpaste
2. toothbrushes
3. sanitary towels (two thirds of the kids are girls)
4. 4 packs of toilet rolls
5. deodorants (two third girls)
6. bars of soap
