Southpoint Church is managed and led by a Leadership Team who are accountable to two boards.
Leadership Team: The purpose of this group is to determine programming, give vision to the various ministries of the organization, assemble and empower teams to do the work and oversee day to day operations. They are selected by, and are accountable to, the Lead Pastor. There are 5 categories of ministry at Southpoint Church that the Leadership Team directs. These ministries and leaders are as follows:
Group Life - Derek Coleman (Volunteer)
Service Programming – Matt Hastings (Staff)
Ministry Services (Finance and Personnel) – Pam Stabler (Staff)
Family Ministries – Matthew Hastings (Staff)
Compassion and Care Ministries – John Hastings and Pam Stabler (Staff)
In addition there are several other staff members and volunteers who support the Leadership Team: Becky Hastings (Service Programming), Trudi Eachus (Children’s Ministries and Administration), Kathy Gibb (Children’s Ministries), Katja Morris (Upstreet), Morgan Herselman (Transit and Media), Robyn Coleman (Transit), Brendon Lotz (Inside Out and Transit), Brandon Tregellas (Finance and Personnel) and Mike Pelteret (Adult Groups).
The Leadership team is accountable to the following two boards:
1. Elder/Trustee board: Elders function primarily as discerners and guardians of Southpoint. They are not expected to oversee specific projects or ministry areas, but they function as broad overseers. The elders meet weekly to evaluate the effectiveness and direction of the organization according to three criteria: the organizations vision, its resources and its doctrine. All teaching is done under authority and guidance of the elders. There are six elders: Rory Heather-Clark, Ian Lorimer, Gavin Johnson and John Hastings. Trustees are members of Southpoint appointed by the Elders to take fiduciary and legal responsibility for the Church. The trustees are Rory Heather-Clark, Ian Lorimer and Gavin Johnson.
2. Finance and Personnel Board: This team operates under the authority of the elders and evaluates the financial health of Southpoint Church. They present a yearly budget to the elders and trustees and meet quarterly to review expenses and budgetary issues. They also establish guidelines for staff policies, salaries and benefits. This team is: Brandon Tregellas (Chair), Stuart Kemsley, Craig Poulton, Shadrach Scullard, Rob Walker and Norval Weichardt.
