We would like to thank you all for an amazing response to our Metro Kids Africa Christmas Gift project. We have managed to reach our target of 600 boxes and more.

All the extra’s will be given to Metro Kids to distribute to children in other areas.

We still need volunteers for either 7 or 14 November at 10h00. There is going to be loads of fun, serving and connecting happening. If you do come to help don’t forget to bring scissors.

If you feel like showing off your baking skills, please bring a plate of goodies to share.

Another opportunity to get involved, is the drop off days 25 and 27 November, try to take the afternoon off, it will be an experience to remember.

Please use the reply slip so we can see how many helpers we will have.

WOW!!! We are making progress, we have almost reached our goal of 600 boxes.  We have an amazing 574 boxes pledged so far.

But, please do not let this stop the generous hearts, if we receive more than our goal there are many children at other Metro Africa’s sites that will be happy to receive a present.

We still need lots of helpers for the 7^th and 14^th November from 10am to pack, wrap or bring something to eat.

Dear Stellenberg Community Church (for however long that name stays )

I have been going to Stellenberg since Feb 2000
It has been the biggest blessing in my entire life and I will never forget it. I’ll never forget the wise words I received one early Sunday morning “Why do you enjoy helping at Stellenberg, the right answer is that you feel part of something bigger, now say it to the camera”
Thinking about that it really is true, Stellenberg has not only allowed me to become one of God’s children but has allowed me to be part of something bigger than myself.

I’ll definitely miss the music, especially the electric guitar (go Sam Gareth and Matt)

We don’t generally coach the responses we want to questions, but this example is a great example of someones realisation of the scope of their involvement in our corner of the global Church.

How does it make you feel to be a part of something much bigger than yourself?

It involves some names, some tech, some good old fashioned Bible stuff and lots of love!

So make sure you’re seated for the 10B4.

Sunday 1 February was the launch of KIDstuf in a brand new venue, the Old Mutual Business School. By the time I arrived, around 6:30, the place was already filled with a hum of activity. In total 87 volunteers would be there to help to get the show on the road. Teams of incredibly cheerful, enthusiastic people worked well together to get the venue set up. The tech team, the set up team, the early bird breakfast crew, actors, singers, dancers, people to help with signage and draping, the registration guys, greeters, car park hero’s… you are all amazing and I salute you!

And then of course, there were the fair people! Yes you heard me, the foyer was filled, not only with 400 adults and children who had come to watch KIDstuf, but also with clowns, stilt walkers, magicians, bearded ladies, strong men, jugglers…and the list goes on. This was all to emphasis the point of what we were NOT talking about for the day! The Big Idea for the month of February is Fairness- making sure that everyone is treated respectfully. Someone just got a little muddled to start off with though, hence the candyfloss and unusual people! (We still love you though Tom!) After some messy game shows and some tense moments over rugby tickets, we eventually got the Bottom Line for the day across- we should treat everyone fairly, because everyone’s important to God.

The whole reason for KIDstuf is to get kids and their parents together in the same room and then to give them an experience that is so exciting and so relevant, that they can’t help but talk about it for the rest of the week! I believe that what happens in the home is way more important than what happens on a Sunday at church. Parents have an amazing amount of influence and time available to them compared to an hour at church on a Sunday.  Together, as a church and as parents, we can ensure that our kids grow up demonstrating values that will help shape not only themselves, but the society around them as well
That’s why when my alarm clock goes off at 5am, it’s ok, because I wouldn’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of families for the world!
